The sole AINTEGUMENTA-LIKE/PLT/BBM ortholog in M. polymorpha and the central subject. Using transcriptional fusions, auxin (2,4-D/NPA) treatments, 35S:MpANT-CITRINE overexpression, CRISPR loss-of-function, RT-qPCR, immunolocalization and EdU assays, MpANT was shown to be auxin-induced and meristem-enriched; loss-of-function reduced plant size, meristematic activity and rhizoids while overexpression expanded proliferative areas.
